Things Making Me Smile Right Now

It just seems like there is so much going on right now! November always seems to be a busy month for everyone. First things first, can you believe that we landed on a comet! Good job fellow humans! I was so excited to hear that we were actually able to do it. This whole landing thing was 10 years in the making, and I hope they actually release their findings. It will be interesting to find out what these flying rocks are made of.

Next is Thanksgiving. This holiday always puts a smile on my face. I'm always thinking about the things I'm grateful for, but it's nice to have a day dedicated to family and of course food! I love cooking and baking and this holiday gives me the perfect excuse to do it! The smell of turkey cooking in the oven is so nostalgic for me. I'm actually cooking our own family dinner so we have some food for ourselves. The last 4 years have been spent going to Jes's families celebrations and we never have leftovers. This time I'm cooking so we can have leftover turkey sandwiches and other yummies. I miss cooking for the holidays!

Isn't that e-card great?! I stress eat every Christmas season. I work in retail and it's not the most fun job in November-December. Plus my kids always have a lot going on in school too. If I'm a little out of it, I'm apologizing ahead of time. And if you see a cookie in my hand watch out!

Next is the picture of Cupcake & Elsa sleeping. Cupcake is using Elsa as a pillow. These two fur babies are too funny. Elsa tries to play with everyone, but at the same time she's scared. Out of the 7 animals Elsa is the smallest, but the cats love her! My daughter sent me that picture via snapchat and it made my day at work a million times better!

Last but not least is Hunger Games! I'm so excited, and sad at the time. I hate when things end. Especially a series that I love. I'm not going to lie, it did take me a minute to get into the hunger games, but the books are what really helped me fall in love. I can't wait to go see this movie next week! I'm definitely going to go see the midnight showing.

Sweater Weather

Tuesday, November 11, 2014

Let me just say that I am very picky when it comes to sweaters. I had one sweater before this and I haven't been able to find one I like in forever! Purple and pink are my favorite colors, so when I was innocently shopping at a big box store that I don't normally shop at, I was taken by surprise when I fell in love. I had to have it! (also please excuse my crazy hair, I'm in between colors) I grabbed it up and was on my merry way. I almost never buy clothes from said box store...and hold your breathe! It's from Walmart! Yup, I Can't believe it. It's so cozy that I never want to take it off. I guess you could add this to my guilty pleasures list.

Inspire Me Pinterest

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner!? I can't! Of course when the holiday season comes around I'm usually scouring the internet for new ideas on traditional baking. Aren't those pumpkin pie cookies adorable? I love them! I'm hoping to get some baking in this year. It gets a little hectic around my house, especially since I work full-time, but luckily Jes always has my back. She is actually home full-time now and homeschooling our daughter Justice.(which has been going great!) I'm so thankful to have her in my life!
This is a wonderful recipe for Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread!
I have a cheat recipe though, if you're running short on time or ingredients:
I box of spice cake mix
1 can of pure pumpkin
1 cup of chocolate chips
Follow instructions on box for spice cake (some mixes call for 3 eggs, I only used 2 and reduced the water added) My bread came out very moist and I couldn't stop eating it!

Hot Coca Cookies with Marshmallows

All I have to say is YES PLEASE! I found this recipe and have been drooling over it ever since! I am a hot cocoa fiend, and I will be using this recipe as soon as I can wrangle up all the ingredients. These cookies would be perfect on a cold snowy night sipping warm milk and watching Elf. Don't you think? My kids agree!

Aside from baking, I'm really hoping to find some time to crochet again too. I have been looking up patterns and I want to make some hats and headbands. I really like making dolls too, but I don't want to get ahead of myself! What do you guys like to do during fall and winter?

Cupcake Love & Halloween Recap

I love all the cupcake recipes I found! I really want to try out the jar cupcakes. I know this post is suppose to be about cupcakes but I feel like October came and went in the blink of an eye! I had a lot of fun this Halloween though! This was the first year that we didn't go trick-or-treating with the kids, which made me a little sad. They are older now, so they would rather go with their friends. Luckily we were invited to my friend's house for a Halloween party and it was a lot of fun!
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! I just love dressing up! I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and I realized that I had never dressed up as a HP character before! I figured since my hair was a purplish/pink color that I would be Tonks! She is one of my favorite characters. Of course Jes dressed as Lupin to go along with my costume. The fun part of her costume (which I don't have any pictures of) is the part where she turns into a werewolf! She got that idea from her boss, which was perfect since Prof. Lupin is a werewolf. I made our wands and we found everything for our costumes from the thrift store. I spent about $30 for everything! Not bad for two costumes!
