Happy Easter!

Sunday, March 31, 2013

So in this last picture I totally feel like we look like the Adams family! I was so busy taking all the pictures that I realized I wasn't in any...then I realized I looked like I shouldn't have been in pictures! I had worked all morning and didn't want to get all dressed up, just to make a mess. All the eggs came out cute and we are taking them to the family picnic for the Easter egg hunt. I love celebrating spring! How do you celebrate?

Cupcake Sunday - Cadbury Cupcakes

These put-you-in-a-sugar-coma cupcakes are sooooo delicious! I came across the idea on Pinterest and it's pretty much the same as my truffle cupcakes, except in a more Easter-ish style. I added a little purple to my cupcakes because I can't help but add some color. Plus colorful things are much more fun to eat. These little lovelies are for the big family Easter picnic today, and I hope everyone loves them!

Happy Easter!

DIY: Facial Cleansing Pads

Friday, March 29, 2013

 What you will need:
1. Distilled Water
2. Distilled White Vinegar
3. Whitch Hazel
4. Baby Wash
5.Cotton Rounds
6. 2 jars or containers (1 for storage & 1 for mixing)
7. Measuring cup
8. 1 tablespoon for measuring

In the large jar or container pour 2 cups of distilled water. Next add 1 tablespoon of Vinegar, baby wash and witch hazel. Put on the lid and give a little shake. It should bubble up, which I thought was really cool. Next put cotton rounds in smaller jar or container. Then slowly add the cleanser so that each round soaks it up. Then your done! Depending on the size of the jar or container you use you should have at least 2 full uses.

It pretty much reminds me of the stridex pads I used when I was a teenager, but less the scary ingredients! If you noticed I used Seventh Generation baby wash which was perfect, and it didn't contain any scary ingredients. Everything else we got store brand. They work great! You can see all the dirt come off your face! I wouldn't recommend this if you have dry skin though, because the witch hazel is a little drying.

In our house we pretty much try to make everything homemade as much as possible. So far we make our laundry soap, fabric softener  facial cleanser and powder dishwasher soap ourselves. We cut down on costs and know exactly what the ingredients are, which is always a plus! Do you make anything, instead of buying it?

I have to say that I was able to read more blogs this week then I usually do. It was nice to catch up on everyone. I guess when your sick and your computer is in your room, it's easy to sit and read. I feel like this week has gone by in a blur. Today we will be decorating Easter eggs, which you know I will have my camera out and ready for that. Do you have any big plans for this weekend?

Any whooooo, I hope you all having a great so far. As for me, I battled a little bit of a tummy virus which was not fun. I'm all better now and just in time for a fully packed weekend full of awesome Easter fun. Tomorrow we will be dying eggs and making Easter Baskets. Sunday we will be a family reunion/Easter picnic, and then on Monday we will be in Baltimore, and then Washinton DC for vacation. I can't wait!!!
